Drivers beware, new traffic regulations at Chandler School

Tamara Dean, principal at Chandler Elementary School, said she wants to make parents and visitors at Chandler School aware of changes in traffic procedures in front of the school.

Dean said new city ordinances now in place require the following:

— There is to be no loading, unloading or parking in the street in front of the school for any reason during school hours (7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

— No left turns allowed for southbound traffic between Woodlawn and Couch streets during school hours.

— No parking in the reserved spaces in front of the school (i.e., Principal, Asst. Prin., Counselor, Nurse, Secretary spaces.)

— No "U-turns" in front of the school.

Dean said these ordinances were put in place for the safety of the students. Kilgore police will be patrolling this area and issuing tickets.

"We appreciate (the puiblic's) help and understanding with the new procedures," said Dean.
