Citizens Bank names Employee of the Year

Sammy D. York, Citizens Bank president and CEO, congratulates Cheryl Pearson for winning the bank's Employee of the Year Award. Pearson, the Fourth Quarter Employee of the Quarter, was voted Employee of the Year by bank employees during balloting in December. She was presented the award at the bank Christmas Party on Dec. 13 at the Cherokee Club. Cheryl Pearson, a 10-year employee of Citizens Bank, was voted the Employee of the Year during the month of December and received the honor during the bank's annual Christmas party on Dec. 13 at the Cherokee Club.
Sammy D. York, bank president, and Kenneth R. Plunk, executive vice president, presented the honor to Pearson, who was selected the bank's Fourth Quarter Employee of the Quarter which made her eligible for the award.
Pearson has been employed by Citizens Bank for just over 10 years. During her time at the local financial institution, she has worked in Bookkeeping, Trust Operations and Internal Accounting. Currently, she is the Trust Assistant for Citizens Bank.
She has a total of 27 years of banking experience. Before coming to Citizens Bank, she worked for Kilgore First National Bank from 1981 to 1997. While at that bank, she worked as a teller, in customer service, in bookkeeping, in internal accounting and in accounts payables.
Pearson attends First Baptist Church of Liberty City. She enjoys spending time with her family, fellowshipping with the ladies in her Sunday School Class and visiting lifelong girlfriends, Kim Meador Bassett and Teresa Kent Cox. She also enjoys reading and shopping for her grandchildren.
Pearson also loves spending time with her parents, Paul and Judy Phillips. Her children include Jessica Martindale, who is married to husband Tim and they are the parents of Colton, and Amye Tubb, who is married to Josh and who are the parents of Jace and Cheyenne.
"I am very grateful to be selected Employee of the Year by the employees of the bank," Pearson said. "Citizens Bank is a great place to work, and so many people make it nice to come to work every day. Again, I am very grateful to be honored."
Bank employees are complimentary of Pearson, because they say she always comes to work with a smile on her face, goes out of her way to do a good job as well as help out others and is involved in any community service program the bank undertakes.
"We appreciate the job Cheryl does for Citizens Bank, and we are glad to honor her for doing an excellent job every day," President York commented. "She is very deserving of this honor."
Citizens Bank is a $280 million independent community bank with two locations in Kilgore and banking centers in Carthage, Center, Levelland, Yorktown, Humble, The Woodlands, Kountze, Sour Lake and a Loan Production Office in College Station.
