Lions hear about Bulldogs

Mike Vallery, athletic director and head football coach for the Kilgore Independent School District talks football at Lions Club.
The Kilgore High School head football coach was at Lions Club on Thursday talking about the season and beyond.

Mike Vallery said this is not the best team Kilgore has put on the field in the past, but it is a good team. "We can't go out this year and beat people when we play bad," said Vallery. "We are going to have to play good to win."

The Bulldogs are getting ready to start district play with Lindale this week and Valley said this will be a big game with Lindale's team being 5-0.

We are not as big as our team has been in the past said Vallery. "But player for player I think we are stronger," said Vallery.

Vallery contributes this to the weight room, both during the regular season and the off season. "The team works out two days a week during the season and four days a week during the off season," said Vallery.

Vallery said he is very proud not only of every player that comes out for the Bulldogs and the effort they put out on the field, but the players that go on to college and continue their football career, which many Kilgore players have.

The team is concentrating on one game at a time with district play starting said Vallery. "We hope to finish well and move on into the playoffs," said Vallery.
