MAE BASS

Services for Mae Bass, 86, of Tyler, formerly of Kilgore were, Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Charles Dodson officiating. Miss Bass died Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in Tyler. Burial followed in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Miss Bass was born Oct. 11, 1921 in Spur, to Viola and Richard Bass. She attended Lee School and graduated from DeKalb High School. She was the secretary to the district manager for United Gas in Kilgore and Longview for 40 years before she retired in 1985. She was a longtime member of the Forest Home Baptist Church. When she moved to Tyler she joined the Woods Baptist Church.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Leonard Bass of Mount Pleasant, Martha Ramsey of Longview, Oleta and Elmer Thrift of Mount Pleasant, Sally Dobson of Mount Pleasant, Lou and Jay Hargrave of Nacogdoches, Gene Bass of Kilgore, Wayne and Sue Bass of Kilgore, Jack and Elizabeth Bass of Hallsville, Barbara and Mike Simmons of Kilgore; numerous greatnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Wesley Bass, Robert Bass, Grady Bass, Horace Bass and Louie Barrett.

Pallbearers were Loyd Hill, T.C. Smith, Chad Lancaster, Harold Richardson, Marty Moris, Bobby Bass.
