"Shine Your Smile" Day coming to KISD campuses Kilgore school district has invited Mobile Dentists/Smile Programs to bring its preventive dental care program to Maude Laird Middle School, Kilgore High School, and Kilgore Intermediate School. Mobile Dentists are coming because KISD recognizes that good oral health is important to students' overall general health. Mobile Dentists/Smile Programs will be at Maude Laird on Friday, Sept. 12. They are scheduled for Kilgore High School on Thursday, Sept. 25, and at Kilgore Intermediate School on Friday, Oct. 17. Tooth decay is the most common chronic and infectious disease among children. Poor oral health can cause other problems in children such as diminished growth in toddlers, poor nutrition due to eating difficulties, and an increase in bacteria in the blood and respiratory systems. Mobile Dentists/Smile Programs will set up a mini-dental office in each school and can provide dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, and sealant (if needed) for all students who return completed forms. Mobile Dentists/Smile Programs can provide these services free to families who need financial assistance and it has subsidized fees for those who choose to pay for the preventive care. No child will be turned away from the program because of financial need. To schedule a visit with the dentist, complete the permission form available from each school. Forms have been distributed to students at each school and are also available from each school's nurse. For more information about Mobile Dentists/Smile Programs, go to www.mobiledentists. com, or call the nurse's office at Maude Laird, Kilgore High, or Kilgore Intermediate school. |
