Kilgore Senior Citizens hold a successful White Elephant sale The Kilgore Senior Citizens met Wednesday, June 25 in the Lions building at 307 Rusk St. Ray Drost led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and Red Fleming gave the opening prayer. They had two visitors, Jo Hillyer and her friend. A White Elephant Sale was held and Shari Butler did the job of auctioneer. With skill, she was able to sale a packed table. Thirty members and two guest enjoyed a delicious covered dish luncheon. The Secretaries report was read and approved. The Treasurers report was also read and approved. The Sunshine Lady gave her report, a Thank You card to Kallie Rhodes, four birthday cards, and a get well card was sent to Mildred Kersh. President Betty announced she had visited with Lois Rogers and she is doing better. She also asked everyone to remember Mildred Dersh with cards and calls. Dottie Green offered a certificate towards a T.V. converter box, from Walmart, to someone in need of it. The next meeting will be July 9, this will be the Annual Fourth of July Hamburger luncheon. All who are interested in attending should sign up and the cost will be $2. President Betty also read a letter from Danville Estates saying they have a one bedroom apartment for someone 62 years or older with a moderate, low or very low income. she announce $66.20 was taken in from the White Elephant Auction. Joyce Riddles read an article to prove that prayer really works. Dave Connor and Lilie Byrd won the door prizes. President Betty dismissed the group with prayer at 12:20. |
