Phase I spending projected at $325,000 Kilgore City Council will hear from two department heads and a fellow councilman at Tuesday's regularly scheduled meeting. The council will also be asked to consider spending up to $325,000 for engineering work on Phase 1 of the proposed downtown sidewalk improvement plan. Ronnie Spradlin, council member and Kilgore Boys & Girls Club Youth Advisory Council president, is on the agenda to discuss the efforts of the Youth Advisory Council. Mike Green, director of community services is set to update council on mowing on right-ofways and at City Hall, Kilgore Police Department, and Kilgore Public Library. John White, geographic information systems coordinator, is expected to update council on GIS system progress. The consent agenda includes the approval of a 99-year lease agreement of the Martin Luther King Community Building between Gregg County and the City of Kilgore. Other consent agenda items include: ° appointment of Manny Almanza to the Planning and Zoning Board to replace Tom Conner, with term to expire September 30, 2009; and, ° authorization to enter into a class action lawsuit - City of San Antonio vs Hotels.com, L.P.; et al, to recover unpaid hotel occupancy taxes. No public hearing is scheduled for this council session. Under ordinances resolutions and action items council is slat- ed to approve award of bids for Fire Station No. 2 for the new apparatus building and for the city's 2008 pavement management plan to make miscellaneous concrete repairs. - Discussion and take action regarding Gregg County inmate assistance in maintenance of Driller Park. - Discussion and receive guidance for formal policy on vacant/undeveloped lots and rights-of-way. - Approve agreement for Professional Engineering Services for Downtown Sidewalk Improvements - Phase I with KSA Engineers for a price not to exceed. $325,200. Pursuant to Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, the City Council reserves the right to convene in Executive Session(s) from time to time as deemed necessary during this meeting. Immediately following this meeting council is scheduled to hold a budget planning worksession. Kilgore City Council meets 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 at City Hall in Council Chambers. |
