KILGOROUND

ONE OF Kilgore's own is coming home from war and the Patriot Guard will escort him into Kilgore.

Shelia Manning, who is a Patriot Guard Rider, said she and other members of the Patriot Guard will be standing by on Friday at Hwy. 31 at Country Tavern to escort Sgt. Don Paul Maxwell II (Sgt. Max), 15th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Exploitation) returning from Joint Base Balad, Iraq into Kilgore where friends and family will be waiting to throw him a surprise welcome home party.

Maxwell is a pilot with Alpha Company which provides aerial imagery intelligence to the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command. During deployment, Alpha Company, comprised of 12 pilots flew over 7000 missions hours for INSCOM, Army Special forces, Delta Command, Navy Seals as well as routine surveilance.

Maxwell is the son of Don and Jan Maxwell of Kilgore. Don has been told he is meeting his parents at the Country Taver for dinner, according to Manning.

Manning said Sgt. Maxwell is expected at the Country Tavern around 6 p.m. at which time the escort will begin down Hwy. 31 to Hwy. 259, then back through Kilgore to Houston St. where the escorts will take a right turn to the Back Porch.

Manning said there will be flags and a salute to Don when he arrives at the Back Porch. Anyone wants to welcome home this brave soldier should feel free to line the escort route and look for a lot of motorcycles and cheer Don as he goes by.

Anyone wanting to say welcome home can also come by the Back Porch. Let's show our appreciatiation to this soldier as he returns home to Kilgore.
