NEW IPF AT KILGORE HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETE

The new indoor practice facility at Kilgore High School stands quiet as students enjoy their summer, but the new 80 yard, $1 million dollar facility is ready for students to take the field. The facility is designed for use by any KHS sport and is large enough for the band to practice all their drills. (photo top) Mike Vallery, Kilgore Independent School District's athletic director was on hand Thursday when the final panels went up on the walls which provide padding for the safety of the students. (photo bottom left) The facility has special netting which is lowered from the ceiling by electric cables which can divide the space into three working areas. The nets are a solid material on the bottom third portion and a mesh netting the rest of the way up for ventilation. The facility has three fans at one end to provide ventilation and the facility is also heated. There is no air conditioning for the facility. Even though the IPF is complete, RPR construction who did the build has not yet signed the building over to the school district. +
