ANITA MONROE

 
Services for Nita Monroe, 91, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. William J. Ingersoll, Reverend David Hampton and Reverend Roberta Dodds Ingersoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Monroe died Thursday, June 19, 2008 in Kilgore.

She was born February 10, 1917 near Alexandria, Louisiana. Mrs. Monroe attended public schools in Smackover, Arkansas, Kilgore and Mildred where she graduated Valedictorian. She moved back to Kilgore and attended Kilgore College. Mrs. Monroe married Autrey Monroe July 5, 1941. She was a 25-year employee of Laird Insurance. Mrs. Monroe was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was the treasurer for the Messenger Sunday School Class. She enjoyed traveling and loved being with her family especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Monroe is survived by two daughters, Rita Knox of Dallas, Janie Terrell and her husband Bill of Kilgore; one brother, Sam Twibell of Snohomish, Washington; four grandsons, Jeff Knox of Dallas, Chris Knox of Dallas, William Terrell of Austin, Andrew Terrell of San Marcus; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening between six and seven-thirty p.m.
