TENNIS, ANYONE

Jason Maroney, Kilgore High School tennis coach, is holding a tennis camp for youths from second grade through high school this week. Maroney said 52 young tennis players signed up for the camp. Camp is divided into three categories, high school, middle school and elementary school so students can compete and learn with their age group. Helping Maroney with the camp are Dana Sneed, Maude Laird Middle School tennis coach, Kayla Bowden and Bob McElroy. Students were being taught the basics through more advanced drills during the week. Pictured, Chelsey Cox, (in yellow) a junior who has been playing tennis for five years and Naomi Worden, a sophomore who has been playing tennis for three years compete in a game of 21, led by Maroney. Austin Word, a fifth grader at Kilgore Intermediate School plays a match under the supervision of McElroy. Sneed teaches the MLMS students net work during a drill on Tuesday.
