A. CLYDE "POP" MATHEWS

A. Clyde "POP" Mathews, 88, born February 3, 1920, to Ezra and Jewell Davis Mathews, in Delhi, Louisiana, passed from this life on June 15, 2008, in Liberty City, Texas. Pop was a Mason for over 60 years, and a member of the Sharon Shrine Temple. Mr. Clyde worked in the oil and gas industry as a consultant for many years. He also loved to play the Harmonica and started playing and singing actively at the age of 82. Pop was also a member of McCarary's Chapel United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Mathews is preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife of 65 years Ruth Vogle Mathews. Pop is survived by his daughter Patricia Ivey; sons, Michael Mathews and Kenny Mathews; Eight grandchildren; Ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Ethel Denson. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
