Still time to sign up for TSF workshop The Texas Shakespeare Festival will be offering an Acting and Stage Combat Workshop here July 15- 29. The Texas Shakespeare Festival Workshop gives young theater artists the opportunity to work closely with theater professionals at Texas' only resident repertory company in an environment that creates aspirit of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect. The cost for the Shakespeare Acting Workshop which includes tuition, supplies, room & board and tickets for five shows at $1,000 per person. Returning participants will receive and additional $100 discount. The class schedule (subject to change) is as follows;
Participants will attend each show of the TSF 2008 Season. On Monday evenings participants will join the TSF Company at the scheduled off-campus Monday Event that provides an opportunity to experience East Texas hospitality with swimming pool or lake outings and dinner. Participants must have completed their sophomore year in high school. Applications must be received by June 11, 2008. This workshop will include over ninety hours of hands-on instruction by professional actors, directors, and other theater artists from the company of the Texas Shakespeare Festival. The content of the courses will be selected from: acting (Stanislavsky, Meisner, monologues); voice/speech (Linklater, Berry, Skinner); stage movement; interpreting Shakespeare (scansion, vocabulary, context, analysis), and introduces young theater artists to the special training necessary to rehearse and perform safe and realistic stage fights, including both armed and unarmed combat, with an emphasis on safety. Cost - $1,000 (Tuition, supplies, room and board, and tickets for five shows) Returning participants will receive a $100 discount. College credit may be available at additional cost for those who qualify. Housing - Double occupancy dormitory housing with shared bath is provided for all participants. Meals - All meals are provided. The Texas Shakespeare Festival Guild provides breakfast each morning, with lunch and dinner taken in the Kilgore College cafeteria. Monday dinners are included as part of the TSF Monday Events. Tickets - Each workshop participant will receive one ticket for each production of the 2008 Texas Shakespeare Festival season, which will include The Royal Hunt of the Sun, 1776, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night and The Magic Lotus Lantern, a children's play based on a Chinese folktale. |
