Farmers market opens tomorrow Some have said the early bird gets the worm, but when talking about a farmers market, the earlybird gets the tomatoes. And peppers. And onions. And more. Tomorrow an expected 22 vendors and growers are slated to set up booths, tables and tents for a Farmers Market sponsored by Kilgore Main Street in an effort to draw shoppers into downtown. Fallon Burns, Main Street manager, said committed growers have promised plenty of fresh vegetables as well as cantaloupe and watermelon _ yes melons - while vendors have promised homemade arts and crafts, painted gourds, jams and jellies. "This is an excellent opportunity for residents to visit downtown and see that it is a vital business district in the city," Burns said. "I hope this market turns into a major Main Street event which we can build upon for the enjoyment of all of Kilgore." The Farmers Market is scheduled for 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tomorrow on South Kilgore Street between Main Street and South Street. |
