East Texas Roofing and home repair grants to serve ETCOG rural residents Over the next three years, $1 million in federal housing funding will serve eligible clients on the East Texas Council of Governments' (ETCOG) home repair waiting list. Through a partnership between ETCOG and the Center for Housing Resources, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas has funded two grants for the East Texas region, each totaling $500,000. Austin Bank and Park Cities Bank of Dallas, both members of FHLB of Dallas, have agreed to act as the fiscal administrators of the grant funds. The administration of the grants will be through the Center for Housing Resources with ETCOG acting as a partner to perform intakes and determining client eligibility and qualification. ETCOG currently has over 400 East Texas residents on its home repair waiting list and this funding is estimated to execute 72 general home repairs and 72 roof repairs for eligible clients on the list. The Area Agency on Aging of East Texas is designated by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to coordinate services for persons in East Texas who are 60 or older, with particular attention to low-income minority older individuals, older individuals with limited English proficiency, and older individuals residing in rural areas. The Area Agency on Aging is a program of ETCOG serving its 14 county region. |
