LEMARCUS BOYER JOHNSON

Funeral services for LeMarcus Boyer Johnson, 58, of Longview will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at El Bethel #1 Baptist Church in Overton, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jerrett Polk officiating. Burial will follow in Gray Cemetery under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.

LeMarcus was born to Tommie Lee Johnson and Katherine Loleta Gee Johnson on Dec. 26, 1949 in Kilgore. His father preceded him in death.

He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church #1 in Overton.

He attended the Longview Public Schools graduating from Mary C. Womack High School in 1967. He went on to attend Kilgore Junior College in Kilgore, where he received an Associates of Science Degree in Accounting in 1969 before attending Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogodoches, where he received a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in 1971.

He married Lou Willa Holiday in 1969 and to this union two children were born.

He began a career of Public service to the State of Texas as an inspector with the Texas Department of Agriculture in 1973. He moved to Austin, in 1977 were he held various positions with the Department of Agriculture, Texas Water Commission and Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission before retiring in 2002 after 28 years.

He is survived by his mother, Katherine Loleta Johnson; sister, Renya Loleta Green, both of Longview; sons, Gene Wellington Johnson (Thelma), of Bryan, Kendryl Boyer Johnson; daughter, Tasharia Monique Thomas, of Irving, 2 grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
