Ever look up in the night sky at the stars and wonder what lies beyond? Well that is just what a group of fourth graders have been doing at Kilgore Intermediate School, studying the stars.
Rachel Brian, a fourth grade teacher at KIS said four classes have been studying the constellations and to culminate those studies what better way to learn then to star gaze.
Brian took 47 fourth grade students to the wilderness, at least as far as Sonny Spradlin's ranch to do a bit of star gazing Thursday night. With the use of star charts and telescopes, students got that hands on feel of the heavens that you just can't get in the classroom.
Cindy Lindley, also a fourth grade teacher at KIS assisted Brian on the outing with the help of PTA Vice President Tamara Mankins. The kids were treated to hot dogs, games and of course the stars.
Kelly Zimmerman and Dana Wilson's students were also involved on the outing.
