Tax revenue offers help for KEDC's special projects Kilgore Economic Development Corporation announced last night more good news for the city: Kilgore is seeing higher than projected sales tax which offers significant help with special projects. Amanda Nobles, KEDC executive director, said the corporation's sales tax revenue is up by 10.87 percent over percentages at this time last year. To date the corporation has collected $2.329 million; four months remain in this fiscal year. "It's wonderful, purely because of activity in the oil sector which drives our economy and drives our sales tax revenue earnings," Nobles said. "I'm delighted that the oil sector is performing so well. This excess money helps with projects we wouldn't normally do." In other news: Nobles said KEDC receives an average of 3,044 unique visits to its Web site in a month. According to Nobles, the visits to KEDC's web site are important to the corporation be- cause 80 percent of the site selection process takes place on the web. "The majority of research is done on the web and communities do not even know," Nobles said. "It is especially important that we are out there and accessible." At Synergy Park the Elder Lake Road extension is complete. Since completion the board agreed to pay Spraymax an additional $46 monthly for weed control.
