KILGOROUND
MITCH LUCAS

FOUND OUT THIS MORNING that David Cline, the pro at Meadowbrook Country Club, had an interesting weekend.

David spent the weekend in Las Vegas, attending the 43rd Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand, which aired live on CBS. Cline even attended a couple of parties while he was there: one thrown by Reba McIntyre, and another thrown by Kenny Chesney.

I know that Lindale's Miranda Lambert won a big award - I think it may have been for best album. At any rate, that's pretty cool that David was able to go.

OUR NEW Texas Collegiate Baseball franchise, the East Texas Pump Jacks, is looking for staffers to fill several positions, including mascots.

The Pump Jacks will host a job fair on Friday and Saturday - according to general manager Mike Lieberman, jobs that the club is looking to fill in-

clude concessions, ushers, wait staff, public address announcer, merchandise sales and even the mascots (a dinosaur and a donkey).

If you want to come out to the job fair (be 16 years old first), show up at the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce at 813 North Kilgore Street from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, or from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday.

The franchise is also still looking for a few host families to help put up the players while they're here this summer. Host families get season tickets to the Jacks' games here at Driller Park, by the way.

If you'd like to become a host family for a young college player, or if you'd like to hear more about it, call their office at (903) 218-GOET or visit them online at info@pumpjacksbaseball. com.

Lieberman said the franchise would like to fill two positions - the job of concession manager and of groundskeeper - prior to the job fair. They ask for experienced candidates to contact them either by the email or the phone number listed above.

By the way, the season opens on the road June 10, and the first game at Driller of their 24- game home schedule is June 12. If you'd like to get season tickets, they are on sale. Call them at the phone number I included above, go by their offices at 1100 Stone Road, Suite 120, or visit their website, pumpjacksbaseball.com.
