Mother's day happened
CHITCHAT CORNER
LINDA K. BALLARD

Mother's Day definitely happened at the home of Jimmy and Brenda Robinson this last weekend. Thirty-eight family members arrived throughout the weekend to begin preparation for a Sunday meal fit for a queen. Those special mothers included Brenda Robinson, Shirley Robinson, Shirley Daugherty, JoAnn Haskins, Sue Caskey, Kathy Jones, Lisa Crow, Melissa Brooks, Jessica Garza, Courtney Smith, Teresa Bonny, Cindy Gerald, Marianne Taylor, Brandi Davidson, Valerie Baker, and Amanda Robinson. "We just ate, visited and talked about old times," said Jimmy. "It was a good time."

The Clements barn was once again the center of entertainment this last week, as Cinda Maxwell hosted a senior party for her son, Will Estel. Seventy-two seniors arrived to join in an evening of "good, clean fun." The family was not excluded as grandparents Wanda and Charles Edney and Will's brothers and sister Kasie, Trip, Jacob and friends also attended the event.

Johnny Clements tried to teach exchange student Dennis Higlert (Concord, Germany), to sing like Elvis; while Will tried to sing like Willie (Nelson). The girls wouldn't let the guys out sing them when it came to karaoke and Bailey Clements showed them all off by singing "Down in the Boon Docks."

Will's aunt, Lisa Ross provided the cake that went along with burgers,

hotdogs and other fixin's. And Eric

Coombs and Warren Maxwell were designated as "kind of " the chefs - you'll have to figure that one. Sue Clements complimented the group for their mannerisms and their ability to have fun without any problems. (Hooray, Seniors 2008!)

Her grandparents tell us - Miss Randi Wymer is graduating fourth in her class at Arp High School. This young lady was queen of her senior prom, while her younger sister, Jessi, a junior in high school, was the princess. Randi has received three scholarships in academics, athletics and one from the forestry department. She will be attending Stephen F. Austin studying environmental science. Last Friday, she ran track for state in Austin and received third place for her two mile run. On Saturday, she placed sixth place during her one mile run. Their younger sister, Kaci, is staying busy watching what these two will get into next. Those tattle-tell grandparents are Mary Lynn and Robert Latham.

"Be sure to check out the June issue of Texas Highways Magazine," said Mike Coston. "There is an eight-page full color article about Kilgore, it's faces, history and culture. You will also find 4 additional pages about Country Tavern Bar B-Que," he said. (Alright, Kilgore!)

It's new and it's coming - Oil Patch Workers for Christ Church. A meeting regarding the beginning of this church starting for oilfield workers and families will be held Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. What better place to have a church designated to the families of the oilfield than in the oil capitol of the world? For more information contact Pastor Frank Sturrock 903-720-7615 or David Hampton at 903-987-9474.
