Joe Spears gives program on Daniel Boone for East Texas Sons of the American Revolution

Chapter 57 of the East Texas branch of the Texas Sons of the American Revolution met at Johnny Cace's in Longview on May 1. President, John Bolton called the meeting to order. The pledges to the United States of America, to the SAR and the Texas Flag were given by attending members. The minutes were discussed and approved and the treasurer's report was given and approved.

After dinner, President, John Bolton, introduced 8th grade history teacher from Maude Laird Middle School, Joe Spears and his wife, Linda. Mr. Spears' program was based on his family's genealogy and his relationship to Daniel Boone. He told of the boone family's experiences during the Revolution and the Battle of Blue Licks.

After the program, President Bolton announced that the next meeting will be September 4 at Johnny Cace's. Any male who can trace his lineage back to a family member who served in the American Revolution is invited to attend. The meeting was adjourned.
