KC to offer new Industrial Maintenance Program

Kilgore College will begin offering degrees and certificates in Industrial Maintenance Technology beginning this fall.

Classes, beginning in August, will offer training for careers in large manufacturing companies as well as industrial machinery and maintenance technology. Upon completion, students will be certified as industrial maintenance technicians.

Industrial maintenance technicians keep plant machinery and equipment running so that production can continue. The program will consist of two certificates: Entry Industrial Maintenance Technician and Industrial Maintenance Technician. An Associate of Applied Science degree can be earned by taking five additional hours of coursework.

Both certificates and the associate's degree have cooperative courses, meaning students will receive credit for on-the-job training.

KC's Industrial Maintenance curriculum is endorsed by several local companies including: AEP SWEPCO, Eastman Chemical Company, Enbridge Energy Company, Inc., KBR Services, LeTourneau Technologies, Inc., M.W. Smith Equipment Inc. and Norris Cylinder Company.

The potential salary range for industrial maintenance technicians is $11 - $31 per hour. For more information, contact Kilgore College-Longview at (903) 753-2642.
