KISD high school construction costs up

Kilgore Independent School District board of trustees met Monday in a special, called meeting to consider a construction change order.

Revard Pfeffer, business manager for KISD, said the new faculty parking lot going in at Kilgore High School as a result of the construction of the new 14 classroom addition needed to be modified.

Pfeffer said the small portion of the existing lot which could have been saved was in such bad condition that it needed to be replaced and repaved along with the new parking lot construction.

"The additional cost to remove and replace the old parking lot with asphalt was $36,527, but for an additional $8600 it would be repaved in concrete along with the new parking lot, also upgraded to concrete," said Pfeffer.

The parking lot is approximately 5000 square feet and will be used for faculty and visitors, said Pfeffer. The construction is due to be complete by the end of August.

The board approved the new parking lot construction.
