Astros get another win, and are still unbeaten EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the second report of the 2008 Kilgore Boys Baseball Association (KBBA) season. Reports are submitted to the Kilgore News Herald by KBBA coaches or parents, and can be picked up at the concession stand. Names will be spelled in the paper exactly as they appear on the report. The weekly roundup will normally run on Thursday, and are due each Monday by 5 p.m. There are several ways to submit a report: bring it to the News Herald office at 610 East Main Street; e-mail it to sports@kilgorenewsherald.com; or fax it to (903) 984-7462. Unfortunately, this week there is just one game to report. 13-14 year-olds • Astros 13, Red Sox 0: The Astros had a good first inning, going up 4-0 on the Red Sox, and then added three more runs to that lead in the second inning to sprint out in front by a 7-0 margin. Ryan Dixon went 3-for-3 with a double and two singles. Mike Ford went 3-for-3, as well, all singles, and Harrison Bara went 2-for-2 (a double and a single). Jackson Mehringer had one hit, but it was a double off the left field wall. Mehringer also got the win, striking out three. The Astros, 3-0 now, are coached by Greg Mehringer and Marcus Dixon. |
