Today is the National Day of Prayer and in honor of that day, the Kilgore Ministerial Alliance sponsored a prayer breakfast.
Rev. Eddie Hilburn and the First Baptist Church of Kilgore hosted the event starting at 7 a.m.
Brian Bittick provided the musical inspiration as he opened the ceremony with a song.
With more than 100 people in attendance, the Acts of Prayer started with Shawn Billings who gave the Adoration, recognizing God's greatness; Mark Hendrick gave the Confession (admitting sin), Courtney Culpepper led the Thanksgiving, acknowledging the source of good things; and giving the blessing for Supplication were Jan Wylie, for the schools, Brian Nutt for government and Mayor Joe T. Parker for the churches.
The breakfast of pancakers and sausage was cooked by the Kilgore Lions Club.
In years past the Ministrerial Alliance has observed national Day of Prayer with a gathering at Kilgore's Sesquicentennial Park.
