Sgt. Ryan Inabnet receives Bronze Star for valor

Army Sgt. Ryan P. Inabnet, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 1-91 Cavalry Squadron, was awarded a Bronze Star for valor by Army Brig. Gen. Mark Milley, CJTF- 101 deputy commanding general of operations, at Fire Base Naray, Kunar province, Afghanistan, April 24.

According to Christina Sinder, CJTF-101 Public Affairs Office, Inabnet was recognized for his brave actions in a combat operation, July 27, 2007, that resulted in the saving of more than a dozen Soldier's lives.

Sinders said as a volunteer of his unit's Quick Reaction Team, the team was called out to reenforce International Security Assistance Forces engaged in combat with insurgents. Shortly after arriving on the scene, Inabnet, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, provided first aid to a wounded Soldier from his QRT and helped to transport the Soldier and several other casualties to the medevac point.

Inabnet is the son of Yesenia and Paul Inabnet and his wife is Martina.

Sgt. Inabnet is from Liberty City and has been in the United States Army for six years and according to his mom is planning on making it his career.

Sgt. Inabnet is a graduate of Sabine High School.
