SHIRLEY MAYNA LAIRD HARGETT
Shirley Mayna Laird Hargett, 67, of Bryan passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at her residence. She was born September 30, 1940 to Merwin Wiley "Pete" and Marian Crane Laird. She was the granddaughter of Shirley Shack and Maude Laird, for whom she was named and the granddaughter of Dr. James B. and Lucy Brown Crane. She cherished many summers spent on the family estate at Laird Hill. She also spent numerous summers with her aunts, Nanette Wickham , Evelyn Laird Cashen, Lois Laird Overton and Hazel Laird Smith. She graduated from Temple High School in 1958. Her humanity provided strength and guidance to her entire family and everyone she encountered. She was a parishioner of Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Red Hargett and is survived by three children, Joe Pete & Michelle Hargett of San Antonio, Maynanne Bergeron of Temple and Cissy Beth and Mike Wodrich of Bryan; Her Father, M.W. "Pete" Laird of Energy; Brother and Sister-in- Law, Joe Mack and Mary Ann Laird of Temple; Sister & Brother-In-Law, Cissy & James Thompson of Ft. Worth; Aunt, Nanette Wickham of Austin; 15 Grandchildren and Two Great- Granddaughters, Kamryn and Kenzie DeLeon of Troy.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. , Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple. Memorials may be made to Oak Park United Methodist Church, 5505 S. 31st, Temple, TX, 76502.
