Tom Conner, KHPF derrick committee chairman talks to Lions about the fund raiser to help fix storm damage on the derricks.

Things were swinging at the Kilgore Lions Club on Thursday as Tom Conner brought some tunes from Patsy Cline.

They weren’t really tunes from Patsy, but some people say you can’t tell the difference according to Conner. “The CD was made by Sherrill Douglas, who will be performing Crazy ‘Bout Patsy,” said Conner.

Conner said the fundraiser sponsored by the Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation will be to raise money to repair damage to the Kilgore derricks caused by the recent hail storm.

“The hail broke out bulbs and destroyed bulb fixtures throughout Kilgore,” said Conner. “Two derricks have been evaluated and fixed at the tune of approximately $1300.”

Conner said the Patsy Cline show is just one of two shows in May as part of Historical Preservation Month.

“KHPF is also sponsoring Jazz Under the Derricks on May 15, featuring the Jazz Professors,” said Conner.

The theme of the Patsy Cline show will be “Keep the Stars Shining” said Conner.

The show will be at Dodson Auditorium on May 6 at 7:30 p.m. Reserve tickets are $20 and $15 each and are available at the KC Box Officer by calling (903) 983-8179.
