First KBBA report of the 2008 season
KILGORE BOYS BASEBALL ASSOCIATION ROUNDUP

EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the first report of the 2008 Kilgore Boys Baseball Association (KBBA) season. Reports are submitted to the News Herald by KBBA coaches or parents, and can be picked up at the concession stand. Names will be spelled in the paper exactly as they appear on the report. The weekly roundup will normally run on Thursday, and are due each Monday by 5 p.m.

There are several ways to submit a report: bring it to the News Herald office at 610 East Main Street; e-mail it to sports@kilgorenewsherald.com or fax it to (903) 984-7462. Reports will not be taken over the phone.

• Astros 15, Red Sox 5 (April 21): The Astros scored seven runs in the first inning, and never looked back. Adam Kubiak went 3-for-3, all singles; Ryan Dixon and Drayton Williams each went 2-for-3, each hitting two doubles; and Deontre Williams went 2-for- 2, both singles. The winning pitcher was Cody Duncan, who had four strikeouts. Josh Burton took the loss, totaling two strikeouts.

The Astros are 2-0, and are coached by Greg Mehringer and Marcus Dixon.

• Astros 5, Giants 0 (April 14): In the Astros' opener this season, Ryan Dixon and Jackson Mehringer each hit home runs. Deontre Williams had a single and a double, and also played well defensively. Cody Duncan had two singles.

Ryan Dixon also picked up the win on the mound, notching seven strikeouts. Mehringer had the save, and had four strikeouts. Zane Zimmerman took the loss for the Giants.
