Regionals begin Friday

Kilgore High School track standouts that qualified for the UIL Class 4A Region II Track and Field Championships were leaving this afternoon for Denton, and begin competing on Friday.

Tai'Shea Reese will compete for KHS in the long jump and the 100 meter dash, trying to make a return trip to the state meet in Austin. She'll also compete in the 400 meter and 800 meter relay, along with teammates Shae Morgan, Brandi Johnson and Jessica Shepherd - Andrea Ashley is the relay alternate.

Johnson will also run for Kilgore in the 300 meter dash, and Samone Jones will compete in the girls shot put.

For the boys, Joe Colbert will compete in the 100 meter dash and in the long jump. Shaun Edwards will go for KHS in the high jump, Joel Venegas in the 1600 meter run, and Shadow Stokes and Dominique Jones in the discus.
