Law Enforcement Memorial Day to be held in Rusk County The fourth annual Rusk County observance of National Law Enforcement Memorial Day will be held May 15. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on the steps of the Rusk County Courthouse in Henderson. The Rusk County Sheriff 's Department will raise and lower the American flag to open and close the ceremony. John Waldie, Henderson police chief, will give the invocation followed by opening remarks by Michael Jimerson, Rusk County district attorney. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Sandra Hodges, Rusk County judge and the national anthem will be played by Henderson Middle School trumpeters. A moment of silence and a prayer for police will be led by Ricky White, Texas Department of Public Safety sergeant, and Clay Gossett, Rusk County district judge, will introduce the speaker, Jeff Millslagle, Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent. Chad Dean, Rusk County Court of Law judge will give the closing remarks, followed by a 21-gun salute by the Henderson Police Department Honor Guard. Amazing Grace will be played on bagpipes, the riderless horse will be led by David Roberts and taps will be played by Wally Reed. |
