Old American Legion building on agenda Kilgore city council will address a routine agenda this week, an agenda that includes a report on a new, informal relationship with a sister city. Bruce Crowe, president of Cyprus Interactive is slated to make a presentation on mission to Rzchichiv, Ukraine and establishment of an informal "Sister Cities" relationship between the City of Kilgore and Rzchichiv, Ukraine. Cyprus is a tenant at Synergy Park. Staff will also ask the council for direction on what to do about the old American Legion Building at 408 E. Lantrip Street. The building owned by Robert Florence was moved to its present location before construction began on the Walgreen store. The building was relocated last year and remains on a trailer and concrete blocks. Bricks which were removed before the building was moved are piled around the building. Little visible progress has been made to restore the building to a useable condition. B .J. Owen, director of special services, will make his quarterly report and Ronnie Moore, director of public safety is scheduled to update council on renovation of fire stations number two and three as well as construction of the new Emergency Medical Services facility. The council is expected to appoint Randy Brogoitti, Mike Beane, Linda Melton, Bill Bass, Mike Green, Amanda Nobles, Fallon Burns and Ronnie Spradlin to a committee which will update the city zoning and subdivision ordinance. Council members will also approve contractors proceeding with Crim Theater roof repair at a quoted cost of $24,044, for additional repairs, from the Contingency Fund. Ordinances Resolutions and other Action Items include: - Approve or deny plat amendment for Springtree Subdivision Phase II; - Discussion and receive guidance regarding the Old American Legion Building located at 408 East Lantrip St.; - Adoption of resolution 08- 10, renaming of South Street Park to Martin Luther King Park; - Discussion and receive guidance regarding Martin Luther King Park improvements and the Community Building at Martin Luther King Park; - Discussion to finalize pending projects at Chandler Street and Maverick Drive, and the amount for Certificate of Obligation Issue; - Approve request for a Quitclaim Deed from Kilgore ISD, Kilgore College, and Gregg County, to the City of Kilgore for property at 509 Highway 31 West, for the construction of the proposed EMS facility; - Make appointments to the Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Regents; and - Approve Supplemental Agreement for TCDP Water System Improvements Project, between the City of Kilgore and KSA Engineers, in an amount not to exceed $15,000; City Council reserves the right to convene in Executive Session from time to time as deemed necessary during this meeting. Kilgore City Council meets 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Kilgore City Hall in Council Chambers. |
