Joy Makers spring into Spring

Tuesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. the Joy Makers of Forest Home Baptist Church met in the Richardson Building for their regular monthly meeting. Doris Snow welcomed everyone. Lee Reid gave the invocation. The tables looked like a spring garden full of blooming purple and blue petunias, accented with mirrors, vases, foliage, candles, cherubs, doves, and of course candy for all to enjoy. The numerous centerpieces were made by Banona Watson with Neola Leach helping to decorate the tables.

The meal was an assortment of all kinds of food, but Kenny Leonard brought his award winning fried chicken for the favorite dish (or box) of the night. Betty Ware shared a devotion, and read the 23rd Psalms. Doris Snow gave information about the upcoming trip to Branson, but Rue Taylor did not pay any attention.

Laverne Mercer had the group sing "Happy Birthday" to Joe Pickett, Betty Ware, Travis Crews, Debbie Hollowell, Banona Watson, and Rue Taylor on April 20. Celebrating anniversaries were Jim and Pam McWilliams and Lee and Sylvia Reid. These two couples are home-grown Forest Home members. As program chairperson, Mercer introduced Clark Sexton as the entertainment for the evening. He started out by giving a humorist biography of his life. With his accordion he had a sing along with funny lyrics as well as playing some favorites. He also shared some historical facts about the orphan trains in the 1800's which his mother was a part of.

Snow went over the prayer requests, commenting on the status of each name. Since Johnny Clements just purchased a accordion, the Joy Makers will hear his music soon.

The attending at time of fun and good fellowship were Neola Leach, Banona Watson, J.C. and Betty Bearden, Travis and Betty Crews, Mary Jane Formby, don and Betty Bonds, Carnell and Ann Waller, Art and Doris Snow, Boyd and Suzanne Allee, Ruth Johnson, Jo Poteet, Lou Brasher, Dwight Dorminy, Betty Ware, Kenneth Leonard, Lavelle Jenkins, Louise McKinney, Dovie Jones, and Jewel Matlock.
