Kathy Barber, instructor at KC, will direct the play, set in 1935 in Macomb, Alabama. This two act play will feature 25 actors with sets and lights by Michael Atkins. The play, dramatized by Christopher Sergel, is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee. The play depicts the life the young narrator, Jean Louise "Scout" Finch, and her brother, Jem, in a mid-1930s Alabama town. Through their neighborhood meanderings and the example of their father, they grow to understand the world isn't always fair and prejudice is a real aspect of the world. "To Kill a Mockingbird" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Monday - Saturday, April 8 - 12, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in the Van Cliburn Auditorium. The play does include adult language and themes. Parents are encouraged not to bring children under the age of 13. No children under the age of six will be allowed. The cast includes Maigan Ford as Jean Louise Finch, Simone Macklin as Scout, Tony Melton as Jem, Rob Price as Atticus, Jayme Griffin as Calpurnia, Charity Wright as Mrs. Maudie, Brook Moore as Mrs. Stephanie, Ann Bean as Mrs. Dubose, Peter Homeniuk as Nathan Radley, Bill Alexander as Boo Radley, Blake Jennings as Dill, Andrew Smith as Heck Tate, Jeremy Crumpton as Judge Taylor, Damarious Edwards as Rev. Sykes, Cassie Bennett as Mayella Ewell, Justin Moseley as Bob Ewell, Kerran Macklin as Mr. Gilmer, Chris Dawson as Tom Robinson and Kendra Burnett, Josh Dryer, Jerrett Goer, Lauren Johnson, Kevin Mitchell and Melvalena Decco as the towns people. Tickets for the play are $6 for adults, $5 for students and $4 with a KC identification card. The box office will open one hour prior to each performance and nobody will be admitted after the play has begun.
