Funeral services for Dorothy Washburn, 78, of Longview will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road with Dr. Gene Petty and Ray Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery. Mrs. Washburn passed away on Monday at her residence.

Mrs. Washburn was born May 13, 1929 in Carthage to Judge and Maudie Anderson Wait. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Shelton; son, Forrest Washburn; and brother, Paul Kenneth Waits.

Survivors include her husband, James Washburn of Longview; sons and daughter in-law, Kenneth and Ann Washburn of Longview, Randy Washburn and fiance', Shirley of Gilmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Thomas Parr of Longview; Betty Dubois of Chopin, Louisiana, Elizabeth "Liz" Washburn and spouse, Russell of Longview, Vicky and Kenneth Roberts of Longview; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Waits of Longview, Calvin Waits of Houston, Bluford Waits of Kilgore and Ralph Waits of Kilgore; sisters, Elizabeth Rush of Kilgore and Gracie Watson of Kilgore.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the funeral home.
