Presidential spring break for Kilgore student

Zevely Hatcher, assistant principal at Maude Laird Middel School, and her family visited Houston, Waco and traveled to College Station to visit the George Bush Presidential Library over spring break.

At the library, she said, the host mentioned that the former President and First Lady often visit the library.

"To our surprise, while walking outside on the grounds we saw First Lady Barbara Bush walking her Springer Spaniel, Sadie," said Zevely. "We then saw her join President George H. Bush to enter the library and followed them inside. President Bush was very gracious and visited with my son, Jackson Hatcher, along with his grandfather, Ken Ragle."

Zevely said President Bush introduced the former Prime Minister of Australia, John Winston Howard to Jackson. "President Bush introduced Howard as one of the greatest friends to the United States," said Zevely.

Zevely said also thather family visited the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, The Children's Museum of Houston, Texas A&M University where her father Ken graduated in 1968 and Baylor University where her mother, Sharon Ragle graduated in 1979 and her sister, Shelly Ragle-Stone graduated in 1989.

Also on the trip was her daughter, Maci. Jackson, 9, goes to Chandler Elementary School
