First Christian's CWF March meeting held First Christian's CWF members recently met and held their monthly meeting in the home of Peggy Bowne. As guest arrived at the Bowne residence, they were seated around a dining table decorated with an Easter basket filled with brightly colored eggs. Guarding the eggs were Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny. Members Marada Early, Carolyn Kennedy, Ellen Watson, Virginia Wallace, Wilma Cooke, Geraldine Cox, and Carolyn Gunn enjoyed a delicious meal of Taco Soup and cornbread. The meal ended with a scrumptious slice of Mississippi Mud cake and coffee. After dinner the meeting was called to order when Co-President Marada Early asked members to join in reciting the CWF prayer. After reciting the prayer, each member shared their favorite bible verse before settling down to discussing club business. Minutes for the February meeting were read by Secretary Carolyn Gunn and approved as presented, by attending members. Treasurer Peggy Bowne gave an update on the club's financial status stating that no disbursements were made during the month of March. Mrs. Bowne announced that the Judges luncheon would no longer be held as a club fund raiser, and asked members for ideas for future fund raising projects. Under committee business, Geraldine Cox reported on the fun everyone had at the birthday party for the Gregg Home residents. Virginia Wallace reported Georgia Williams was enjoying being home and would be happy to received calls or cards from her church friends. There being no other club business the program was turned over to Carolyn Gunn who presented the evening program. Mrs. Gunn's presentation covered the miracle "The Feeding of the Five Thousand". The presentation centered on the differences and similarities as told by the four gospels Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. The group discussed the many lessons learned from studying this miracle performed by Jesus. The meeting adjourned with the reading of the CWF Benediction. The next meeting will be April 21, 2008. Anyone interested in attending should contact the Church Office or a CWF member for time and location. |
