CHITCHAT CORNER
She's after the pink
LINDA K. BALLARD

"Did you buy a new frock for Easter," I was asked several times throughout the week as Easter (while growing up,) meant a new dress and depending on your age sometimes a new little bonnet to go with the dress. However, as time passes, it becomes much easier to just go back into the closet and pull out something from the past just like Clare West did. "Oh, I reached into my closet after a navy dress to wear Easter morning and started adding matching accessories. Oh, I thought I was so smart and would look real smart with my total outfit of navy jacket, shoes, purse, etc. and the best part was, I didn't have to go out and buy a thing," she said. "Easter morning, we went flying out of the house to meet family at another church and I really didn't pay much attention to how I looked as I had everything ready to slip on. We met with the family and traveled on to the church and no one said a word about how I was dressed. After the service, I had the best time visiting with the congregation and it wasn't until I stepped out of the door of the church that I looked down and realized my dress was black and not the navy one I thought I had taken out of the closet. I was horrified! Here I was smartly outfitted with navy accessories and a black dress! I only hope everyone thought I was setting a new trend in fashion and maybe the navy one will work for next Easter," she said. (Keep setting those fashion trends, Clare, the rest of us ladies needs you out there.)

Randy Renshaw fed fifteen family members and friends at his house on Easter. He made bread that tasted more like cake and shared the leftovers with me the next day. It was out so-o good that I didn't even cry too loud when I found out Elaine Campbell also fed a bunch at her house and served strawberry shortcake for dessert. She had no leftovers or else she didn't offer them…However, Marilyn Shockey and her son Michael and the Easter bunny (Jewel) delivered Russell Stover Chocolates to me after church Sunday morning. Wow, now that's an Easter bunny.

Congratulations go out to Darlene Perry. She was promoted to a new position within the ranks of Mary Kay on Saturday morning at a regional meeting held in Longview. Her sister, Valerie Melton and I have yet to figure out exactly what she has been promoted to, but none the less, she is closing in on earning that pink Cadillac. If you would like to help keep her "in

the pink," we are sure she wouldn't mind you calling her at 903-643-7244. Remind her with the price of gas, we expect to get chauffeured in that pink Cadillac once she receives it.

"Is it alright if I come over and hang your new curtains for you, my mother-in-law, Mattie Olson asked me," said Quenna Olson. "Sure, how nice, you have the key, I told her. When I got home that evening, my sister-in-law, Gail Calhoun was there, too. How strange, I thought until they led me into the bedroom. They had done a complete makeover of my bedroom including painting it. Before and after pictures were taken just like on television and I'm telling you now I know exactly how the others feel when they receive a makeover. They managed to paint, accessorize, add comforters, pillows and change night stands. They had even brought in Chris's grandmother's chair and everything was coordinated to match a pair of guardian angel pictures hanging on the wall above the bed. It was so gorgeous, I had a hard time sleeping on the bed that night! I did tell them to feel free to do the rest of the house, but they let me know once was all anyone got. You just can't imagine what a beautiful job they have done. (Can I give them the key, to my house, Quenna?)
