Well, if the signs are right, then winter is over and let spring begin.

The first hummingbird sighting of the season in Kilgore - at least the first that has been reported to use - was Tuesday.

Betty Robuck who lives at 1509 Peach St. said she put her Hummingbird feeder out on Saturday and on Tuesday saw a scout at the feeder. "I encourage everyone to put out feeders. They are so easy, just four parts water to one part sugar," said Robuck. "These little birds are so beautiful to watch."

Robuck said the hummingbirds migrate to South America for the winter and return to the U.S. when the weather is warm enough. We certainly hope this is a true sign winter is over.

Don't forget to come out and support the Texas Lions Camp this weekend at Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview. The East Texas Lions are holding their annual barbecue which raises funds to send

kids to camp.

The Kilgore Lions Club will be participating and tickets are available through any Lions member or at the door. The event will be catered by Bodacious Bar-B-Q and is only $5 per person. The times are 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. this Saturday and to-go dinners are available from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Kilgore Bulldog baseball team and the Lady Bulldog softball team will be at home tomorrow - the boys at historic Driller Park and the girls at Stream-Flo Field to take on Henderson High School. The girls junior varsity will start at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6 p.m. The boys will also be taking on Henderson with a starting time of 6 p.m.
