KISD $5.2 million projects almost complete
NEW KHS 14 CLASSROOM ADDITION

Kilgore News Herald Photo by Leste Murray Construction at Kilgore High School should be complete by the end of May. Revard Pfeffer, business manager for KISD said this would give the district all summer to get things moved in for classes to begin for the 2008/2009 school year.
Last April the Kilgore Independent School Disitrict trustees approved a $5.3 million construction project at Kilgore High School.

Now, aalmost a year later, the construction being done by RPR Construction out of Tyler is not only going well, but soon to be finished.

Revard Pfeffer, KISD business manager, said the dressing rooms for track and soccer are complete and have been turned over to the athletic department, the indoor practice facility is slated to be done by the end of April and the new 14-classroom addition should be finished by the end of May.

Pfeffer said projects were slowed down a bit due to weather, but if the weather holds the projects should be done by the end of the school year.

The new indoor practice facility is slated to have its turf put down in the next week and with the concrete work out of the way on the classroom addition, the walls are already going up.

The classroom addition is estimated to cost about $4.2 million, the indoor practice field and dressing rooms $1.1 million.

The new classroom addition was needed due to increased state requirements for math and science. The indoor practice facility should be used by football, soccer, softball, track, band, cheerleading and any other school function.

The new Ag Building is now up and running with classrooms and space to work on ag projects. The students moved into this facility after the Christmas break. This project was also completed by RPR Construction.
