KIBA says pick your teams and "Make Kilgore Shine"
By KATHRYN MARTINEZ news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Tired of Litter, trash and eyesores? Take a stand and do your part. Make Kilgore Shine.

In conjunction with the Great American Cleanup, Kilgore Improvement Beautification Association is asking individuals, businesses, schools, churches and organizations to team up and pick up litter, spruce up lawns, clean up streets and tidy up businesses.

Make Kilgore Shine is not just about litter. Some may choose to pick up litter while others might want to clean weeds and grass growing over curbs and in cracks. Some may choose to tidy up their own property.

Volunteers must register in advance to receive Tshirts. Volunteers may team up with any number of members; however, KIBA suggests teams of two to eight members and possibly forming more than one team if your organization is large enough.

Litter teams must be preregistered to prevent street duplication and to receive shirts and gloves and bags.

Registered teams will check in 8 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Kilgore City Park. Teams may send a team leader to check in as long as a list of team members' names and shirt sizes is provided.

Pick up of full bags is scheduled at noon. Teams should leave bags at curbside in plain view.

No bulky items will be picked up. The land fill is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday to receive larger items - up to a level pick-up truck bed. No fee is charged with the presentation of a city water bill.

Those unable to commit to a team may still be a vital part of this effort by sprucing up in their own yards.

Call 903-983-1379 to adopt a street and register your team.
