CHITCHAT CORNER
Sunrise in the heart
LINDA K. BALLARD

"I've been thinking about this," said Benny Trejo. "Easter, to me means that the Resurrection of Christ and Spring are synonymous - regrowth, rebirth and renewal. He couldn't have said it any better. Just look around and you will see God's hand at work everywhere…It is a time to remember that He Has Risen - what a glorious feeling.

Donna VanMeter shared this little story with us: "I was working away at Regions Bank when I saw the cutest little boy come over to where I was working. He came right up to me and was watching every move I made. I bent over and told him, "I just love little boys." He looked at me and said, "I just love little girls." How funny, I thought. It just made him all the more cuter," she said.

"Friday was not Good Friday," exclaimed Quenna Olson. "It's Michael's birthday and that makes it a national holiday," she declared. Michael is her son and he turned 27 years old. Happy birthday, national Michael.

Easter plans for Sue Clements are the same as they have always been since she was a child. "We have Easter at Pirtle Church where my mother attended and then we have an Easter egg hunt," she said. "All of my kids are grown and away from home, so I called my grandson Tristan to see if he would come and help me color eggs. Tristan, now 18, agreed to help and said he would even hunt them, that is, until he found the prize egg. Well, at least Tristan understands some traditions can not be broken and we hope there is a prize egg loaded with all kinds of goodies for him.

Chicken and dressing for Larry Haire? We hear that was his request for Easter…okay there's nothing written in stove that it has to be ham and deviled eggs…

"I've been watching the people at the mall," said Maebeth Avant. "They just look so-o sad. It seems they don't know that miracles do happen. I just want to tell them prayer works." Her husband, E.A., who is now 81, had a kidney removed with the new robotics surgery. He was home 4 days later complaining because he couldn't ride his back the 5 miles he normally does!

Mark Fried, music minister at Forest Home Baptist Church entertained the Young at Heart last Thursday at First Baptist Church. As always, he received rave reviews for choosing to sing "Beulah Land" as one of the songs sang through the noon meal. Several seemed to think his singing was better than dessert!

Many churches in the area are offering sunrise services. The following are just a few that are holding sunrise services at 7 a.m.: Highland Park Baptist Church, McCary's Chapel, Cross Roads United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Danville, Danville United Methodist Church, Laird Hill Baptist Church and St. Luke's United Methodist Church (6:30 a.m.)

Cheryl Kelly said please don't make Easter a commercial thing. We agree. So, we are making it simple and to the point. Happy Easter, May it be a Blessed One. You can always share your Easter stories with us. In the meantime, May His Love and Laughter Fill Your Hearts and Your Homes.
