Kilgore Seniors enjoy a social luncheon The Kilgore Senior Citizens met Wednesday, March 12 in the Lions building with Pres. Betty Roeluck calling the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. David Parker led the group in the pledge of Allegiance and Jaunita Riley gave the opening prayer. Cora Holt was there to take blood pressures. Bingo was played with Pres. Betty calling, assisted by Joyce Riddle, winners were Jaunita Riley, Ray Drost, Edith Otts, Pat Smith, Dave Connor and Kathryn Goodwin. There were nine birthdays for the month of March and they were, Joyce Riddle, Ginger Anglin, Flo Francis, Bettie Warlick, Jaunita Jarrett, Jaunita Riley, Red Fleming, Bill Adcock, and Mary Provance. There were two visitors to the group, Solita Tucker nd Barbara Lear, and a new member was welcomed, Nell Bell, which brought the group to 41 members. The treasurers report was given and approved as read. Carolyn Woods announced she has to give up the office of Treasurer due to a serious illness in the family. A committee of three was appointed to find a replacement, and they are, Flo Francis, Ginger Anglin and Ray Drost. The Sunshine Lady gave her report, a sympathy card and a donation of $25 was sent to Highland Park Baptist Church in memory of Leigh Ware, a sympathy card was also sent to Jim Ware, Leigh Ware's son. A thank you card was sent to Sue Brown for her program about the play "Boom" along with two happy birthday cards to Cetrue Lenahan and Helen Fette. The secretaries report was read and approved as corrected. A thank you card was read from the Highland Park Baptist Church for the donation in memory of Leigh Ware. Pres. Betty announced that at the next meeting there will be an Easter Bonnet parade. She also informed the group that Mildred Kersh could no longer be doing the work of taking care of desserts and the food table. Shari Butler offered to do ti but will be needing a helper. Ray Drost reminded everyone of the Defensive Driving class he will be conducting on Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lions Club Building, coast is $10. Joyce Riddle announced that every Thursday of the month of March, there will be a representative will be at the Library from 9 to noon to help anyone with their Income Tax and the new tax refund. Pres. Betty read a poem titled "Be My Friend", that was written by on of her high school classmates. Solita Tucker and Kathryn Goodwin won the door prizes. The meeting was closed by Pres. Betty with a prayer at 12:50. |
