Tuesday for approval of Kilgore's Master Plan
By KATHRYN MARTINEZ news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Kilgore residents interested in the city's Master Plan may attend a public hearing on the plan Tuesday night.

Planning and zoning officials recommended the plan for approval by city council at a meeting last week.

- Approve a manufactured home park license on property located on Tract 43 in the GW Floyd Survey A-72, one tract totaling 7.12 acres located 556 feet north of the intersection of FM 2087 and FM 349 fronting 110 feet along the east side of FM 2087. The property is currently zoned "SF-MH" Single-Family Manufactured Housing District;

- Adopt Ordinance 1377 adopting the City of Kilgore Master Plan;

- Presentation and acceptance of Annual Report of Tax Abatement Agreement compliances;

- Approve Southern Plastics, Inc. doing business as Alcoa Closure Systems International Assignment of Tax Abatement Agreement to Closure Systems International, Inc.;

- Adopt Resolution 08-07 authorizing submission of application for Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant (AFG) for Operations and Firefighters Safety Program in the amount of $210,000; authorizing Traylor & Associates, Inc. to prepare and administer said application; and designating the city manager as the Chief Executive Officer and authorized representative to act in all matters in connection with this application and grant;

- Consider items regarding the Texas Community Development Block Grant applications including: Resolution 08-08 requesting changes to the method of selection for Community Development Fund Grants under the Texas Community Development Block Grant (Tx- CDBG) Program in the East Texas Region; and authorize a letter of support from City Council on recommended scoring factors for selecting applicants for TxCDBG grant awards; and

- Consider for possible action a request from Harry Crouse, Main Street business owner, to obstruct the sidewalk with the addition of a balcony at the old Longhorn Drug building.

In other business Tim Hobbs, street superintendent, is scheduled to give council an update on Meadowbrook Park parking area construction; and Mike Green, director of community services, will give an update on the swimming pool parking area, building façade and concession area.

Kilgore City Council meets 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Kilgore City Hall in the council room.
