Kilgore hosts Pine Tree tonight

The Kilgore High School Bulldogs are back in action a night early, facing the Pine Tree Pirates tonight here at Driller Park. The first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

KHS (8-5 overall this season; 2-1 in District 12-4A) faces a Pirates team that started off the season red-hot, like 9-0, and then got off to an 0-2 district start. Weather forced the Pirates and Whitehouse to postpone Tuesday's game to last night, and Pine Tree got its first 12-4A win of the schedule, beating the Wildcats 13-3. The Pirates are 10-3 overall this season, and 1-2 in the district.

In other games across the district, Hallsville (2-1) visits Whitehouse (0-3), Marshall (2-1) faces Henderson (2-1), and district-leading Nacogdoches (3-0) visits Jacksonville (1-2).

The Diamond 'Dogs visit Hallsville on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Lady 'Dogs looking for first district win

The KHS softball team is also home against Pine Tree tonight, just the third home game of the year for the Lady Bulldogs. The junior varsity plays at 4:30, with varsity to follow, likely around 6.

Kilgore (4-12 overall, 0-5 in District 12-4A) is still searching for its first district win of the season, although there have been a couple of near-misses. KHS lost an 18-10, lightningshortened game to Jacksonville in five innings on Tuesday night.

KHS goes back on the road Tuesday to face Hallsville.
