PATSY RUTH MCCARTY
Mrs. McCarty was born on October 23, 1926 in Marshall, Texas to the late K. H. and Esther Forsythe. Patsy graduated from Marshall High School. She went to work for McClellans Stores where she met her future husband, Phillip McCarty. Later, she worked for SWEPCO until she and Phillip married on December 31, 1954. After they were married, Patsy entered the banking business, working for several financial institutions until her retirement from Citizens Bank in Kilgore in 1987. Patsy loved to work in her yard working with flowers and gardening. After she retired, she did volunteer work at Roy H. Laird Hospital, the East Texas Oil Museum, and at the First Baptist Church of Kilgore. Most of all, she enjoyed being around people. She is survived by her husband, Phillip McCarty of Kilgore; a daughter and son-inlaw, Patty and Frankie Bernhardt of Longview; a grandson, John Bernhardt and his wife, Kristi of Lone Star; a nephew, Jon Forysthe and his wife, Gail of Brenham; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Peggy McCarty; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Hooper and Imogene Mc- Carty of Marshall; Sue Mc- Carty of Elysian Fields and Frances Forsythe of Brenham; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Her parents and two brothers, K. H. Forsythe, Jr. and Calvin Forsythe, preceded Mrs. McCarty in death.
