Sabine wins in 10 innings

The Sabine High School Lady Cardinals softball team is 1-0 in District 15-3A.
And it took them most of Friday night to get there.
The Lady Cardinals outlasted homestanding White Oak, 13-6, in 10 innings on Friday, scoring seven runs in the top of the 10th to put the game away.
Cortnee Ryan went 4-for-6 in the marathon game: two singles, two doubles and scored twice. She had an RBI and a stolen base.
Cassie Headley had five hits, all singles, and 3 RBI. She scored three times and had a pair of stolen bases. Sandy James, who was intentionally walked three times, went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, scored twice, had two stolen bases and 2 RBI. Chelsea Headley went 2-for-3, both singles, with a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI.
Alex Easley and Jannell De- Freece both went 2-for-6 - De- Freece had 2 RBI. And Lindsey Bryce went 2-for-7, both singles, and had 2 RBI.
The game was tied at five after seven innings, then tied again at 6 after eight innings.
In the 10th, Hailey Hayes helped Sabine by earning a walk, and then Cassie Headley got a hit down the third-base line. Her sister Chelsea got a hit to score Hayes, and then Bryce had a hit to score Cassie Headley.
James grounded out to third, but Sabine would go on for five more hits, and then held in the bottom of the inning.
James pitched all 10 innings for Sabine - 150 pitches. She struck out 13, walked three and allowed three earned runs.
The Lady Cardinals are coached by Sarah Ricks-Creech. and host Gilmer Tuesday night, a 5:30 p.m. junior varsity start.
