KILGOROUND
BILL WOODALL

YOU DON'T HAVE TO ride a tricycle - the tikes will take care of that - but I suppose you could if you really wanted.

THE event is a Trike-AThon (is there a limit to the number of event-athons out there?) to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The cleverly named Trike and Field Day (the high school track coach gets it) begins at 10 a.m. next Thursday, March 20, at Kids World Learning Center, 405 Kay Street.

AFTER the trikes are safely back in the garage, the youngsters will have an Easter party at 11:30 and an egg hunt at 12:30.

THOSE OF you hoping to get your kids transferred into the Leverett's Chapel school district can start the process now. Transfer applications will be accepted until May 1.

GET your applications at the school office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Bring a report card when you apply.

YOU MIGHT - but only might - get almost a tankful of gasoline if you donate blood at city hall on Monday.

SOMEHOW IT seems appropriate that you have to give blood to even get your name entered in the drawing for $100 worth of gasoline.

THE blood drive to benefit Red Cross is inside city hall, in the council meeting room, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday.

Y'ALL come.

A FIRE-season safety tip for families who use propane: keep the grass and brush trimmed away from your propane tank to minimize risks in the event of a grass fire.

TRY to imagine how happy KSA Engineering must be that Kilgore's sales tax rebates keep going up. The Longview firm gets hired to do a feasibility study about pretty much everything being considered at city hall.

WHY DO so many folks confuse the words "unique" and "unusual?" The thing about unique is this: it only fits when something is one-of-a-kind. The item or event is either unique or it's not; there is no such thing as very unique, most unique, unusually unique or - even - darned unique. If not quite unique, your nomination might qualify for unusual.

IN THIS "now I've seen everything" world, unique is becoming even more unusual.
