Board elects not to renew Feaster's contract
Feaster served in his current position for just one season, meaning the next head football coach will be the Cardinals' fourth since the 2004 season began. SHS Principal Eddie Shawn confirmed the action this morning. Feaster's departure after one season followed the departure of Greg Anderson, who was here for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Sabine is 2-28 in the last three football seasons. The Cardinals, who were competing as the absolute smallest Class 3A school in the state this school year, will be in Class 2A when the University Interscholastic League's new realignment takes effect in 2009 (realignment is based on school enrollment numbers). In the major sports (football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, etc.), Sabine will compete in District 18-2A along with Harmony, New Diana, Elysian Fields, Union Grove, Harleton, White Oak (also a move-in from 3A) and Winona. "I do think it'll be a good job for someone, with us moving to 2A, and I believe we have the chance to be competitive," Shawn said. Feaster accepted the head coaching job at Sabine last summer, months after leading Minden (La.) to a 13-1 record and getting the program to the state semifinals. At press time, it was not confirmed if Feaster would finish out the school year. |
