Rangers beat up Estes, outlast Padres
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL/ TEXAS RANGERS SPRING TRAINING

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) _ Shawn Estes is trying a comeback with San Diego nearly two years after elbow surgery. He had a rough outing Monday night.

The left-hander was touched for four runs - one earned - and three hits in 2 2/3 innings, taking the loss in the Texas Rangers' 5-2 victory over the Padres.

The Rangers face the Chicago White Sox at 3:05 p.m. Central time today as spring training continues in Surprise, Ariz. The Rangers are 6-6 in spring training games so far.

With one out, Ryan Roberts walked and Josh Hamilton followed with a two-run triple. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez was charged with an error on Hank Blalock's shot as Hamilton scored.

The Rangers used seven pitchers, with Wes Littleton tossing a scoreless fifth for the win. Lefthander Matt Harrison worked the final three innings to earn a save.

Nate Gold hit a solo home run off Padres closer Trevor Hoffman in the eighth.
